Lostock 6 – 2015
Please note there is a new Lostock 6 route for 2015:
Following feedback from the 2014 race and to improve runner safety, the Lostock 6 route has been improved as shown on the map above and described below.
In summary there is a new start near the junction of Lostock Lane and Lynstock Way before the railway bridge, a new route via Regents Road up to Chorley New Road (just after the Lostock Junction station) and a new run in to the finish. The start is now near the railway bridge on Lostock Lane, on race day runners will be lined up along Lynstock Way just off Lostock Lane for pre-race announcements from the RO. The runners will then be lined up at the start line ready for the official start. From here the route is as per previous years up to Lostock Junction. Just after the Lostock Junction Station the race route turns left along Regents Road which provides a safer route back to Chorley New Road with footpaths on both sides of the road. The approach to the finish of the race has been extended by continuing on Chorley New Road past Ox Hey Lane then turning left down Cambridge Rd which leads to Crescent Rd then left on to Alexandra Rd. On Alexandra Rd taking the next left brings the runners back onto Ox Hey Lane and the final run in is as per previous years finishing on Hall Lane. In total a certified 6 miles. There will be Marshalls at the junctions to direct you in the right direction. We hope to have the entry forms out soon.

Thanks to the 201 runners for braving the elements at this year’s 33rd Lostock 6. The start of the race was cold and dry however this deteriorated as predicted by the weather men into rain, sleet and then snow by the end of the race. Hopefully most got round the course before the worse of the weather set-in.
Jonathan Kay from Bolton United Harriers & AC was the first back in a time of 31 minutes 01 second followed by fellow Bolton runner Karl Darcy to make it a Bolton one-two. Darwen Dasher Joanne Nelson was the first lady back in a time of 36 minutes 46 seconds beating Christina Singleton from Trawden Ac by just 10 seconds.
We wish to thank our sponsors SOUTHERNS INTERIORS for their support and to Barnstormers for the use of the pub for registration, refreshments and prize giving. Also MBDA and Scan Computers for the use of their car parks. We also wish to thank Ernills Bakery for providing flap jacks at the finish and not forgetting the marshals, St Johns etc who ensured the event ran efficiently.
It was good to see so many people turning up to the Lostock 6 today.
Please have a look on the Lostock 6 Facebook page and the club website at lostockac for pictures of the race.
We hope to see you all next year and would like to hear any comments on the Lostock 6 race, about advertising, paper entry form/on-line entry, registration, car parking, start and finish, course,
presentation, results and any other thoughts.
