Wednesday 5th October – Bolton Mountain Rescue Presentation
October 6, 2011Just a BIG Thank you to all 29 or so members who turned up at the Bolton Mountain Rescue Team HQ last night, it was great to see so many making the effort to support us whilst we presented a £200 cheque to the team, without their help we could not hope to put on our Fell race “Hendersons End”.
It was obvious from their kind remarks how much these donations mean to them and they have extended an invitation to us to attend a presentation by them at their HQ on how and what they do for our local community. Therefore after discussing this at our meeting last night we have decided to accept this invitation and I am contacting them to arrange this for Wed. 7th December 2011 at 7pm. this is the same night as our AGM which will still take place as usual at the Conservative Club at around 9pm. So there will be no training runs on that night, it will be a pure social evening which is another first for our club.
I will confirm this as soon as possible.
Thanks Again
John

Checkers Grisedale Epic
September 5, 2011I was already nervous and apprehensive about doing this again, and when Ray turned up with no compass and a map of the wrong Grisdale, the omens weren’t good. I was slightly hysterical with very nervous laughter, Adrian was in his element, he was lapping it all up. This kind of weather suited him typical Lake District Rain and mist. We did a bit of a warm up, the start soon came, the climb up to Birkhouse Moor is always horrible, there is a far better way up via Lantys Tarn and the side of Grisedale although slightly longer. Anyway I soon got going and left Pete and Ray behind.
I had good run along the top to Catstycam chasing a Bowland runner, a good climb up Catstycam.

Club Camp August 2011
August 21, 2011Friday August 19th and after a couple of wrong turns, which we’ll blame on the Sat-nav. We arrived at the campsite located at ‘The Weatsheaf pub’ just before 6.00pm thankfully we had a pop-up tent as we only had 20mins to get it habitable before dinner at the pub and the more pressing matter of what seemed to be an inevitable downpour.
