Overall Fell Champion 2012.

January 17, 2013

See the attached spreadsheet which shows the final positions for the Fell and Road championships. Please feel free to check this s/sheet as there may be errors.

This year we have run the overall fell championship on a points basis with the best 6 race finishes as the o/all champion. If anyone has any alternative methods of determinig the o/all fell champion or wants to add any comments about the scoring systems currently used please feel free to raise these with John Smith!!!!!

This year 2013 we hope to see more runners on the fells, note that there are enough shorter races (short = approx 6 miles) to tempt more women, Roadies & Farmers onto the fells and hence be a part of the fell championship.

Well done to last years Overall Fell Champion – Mark Liptrot (the small guy who runs round with his rucksack weighted down and uses those very long words when posting on Facebook).

Sunday, 30th Dec 2012 – Haggis Run

January 2, 2013
Another good turnout from the Lostock crew for the traditional Haggis run, commencing 10 a.m. at the Top Barn.  Again, there appeared to be approx 24 of us setting off from the Barn.  The fell running gang had already turned out from 8 a.m., taking in White Coppice before meeting up with those who had a lie in until 10 a.m.  Our Chairman, John decided to join us this time, having no domestic duties to complete (at least that was his excuse for not attending the Christmas run).
It was pretty wet going between the Pike and Two Lads and very very windy. So it was very welcoming to be greeted with Speedy’s haggis pasties on arrival at the Two Lads, will definitely have to have a go at making these.  Also thanks to Mark Smith for bringing his customary tub of warm haggis and ‘real’ forks to eat it with.  The dogs also took advantage of the food, enjoying the leftovers.  Apparently someone had also brought along alcohol, although I never saw any sight of this !
Some of us took the usual route back down to the Barn for coffee, being joined by the rest of the group who had taken a detour up to the mast before arriving at the Barn.
Brilliant turnout, really enjoyable run and it didn’t rain on us !!
p.s. Thanks to Ray for taking the photos and posting onto Lostock fb site.

Sunday 23rd December – Mince Pie Run

January 2, 2013

Thank you for making the effort to turn up for 10 O’Clock, despite your hectic christmas schedules (i.e christmas parties and last minute parties), although there was no sign of our chairman John Smith!  From a quick headcount on the pics it looks as if approx 28 of us turned out.  We eventually set off from the Top Barn towards the Japenese Gardens and then onwards up to the Pike.  On reaching the Pike we split into two groups, one heading to the Two Lads via Georges Lane and one heading straight over the moors, the latter being a wet and muddy experience.  As we got up to the top of the Two Lads, we all partook in enjoying some Mince Pies, with Allan Jones passing out the booze, which was warmley recieved by all.

Leo recounted his journey on his own to meet us at the Two Lads, and how as he was walking up he felt a sensation in his arm and thought he was beginning to come on with a stroke or heart attack, only to find it was his daughter who had crept up behind him and grabbed his arm!! :-)

Most of us then headed towards Winter Hill, while the others headed back down.  Those heading back down had the pleasure of seeing Santa, well, three Santas in total cycling along Georges Lane!

We all met back at the Top Barn for teas and coffees where, thanks to Leo, we managed to book next year’s Christmas Do !  So, Fri, 6th December 2013 has now been confirmed as the next Lostock Christmas Do !  More details nearer the time.

2013 Fell Calender

December 30, 2012

The Calender for the club fell championship has been finalised. As usual there are the three Lakeland Classics, plus Seven short races, three medium and one long. The first race of the year is the White Holme Circular on the 26th of January which should kick things of nicely before the Winter Hill race just two weeks later. The year finishes with the Tour Of Pendle on the 26th November. The eleven main races will count toward the club fell championship, the Lakeland Classic races will count seperately toward the Lakeland championship. (more…)

Provisional fell calender 2013

December 28, 2012

After some delegation from our very busy Fell Captain, A few of us met after a run on Pendle Hill today to compile the calender for the coming year. The three Lakeland Classics have already been chosen prior to todays meeting. They are as follows:

Ten other races have been selected, six of these are mostly local shorter races of no more than 6.5 miles. Three are medium races of between eight and eleven miles, leaving one longer race of fourteen miles. Although this is a provisional list, we would like the calender to be finalised no later than 1st January 2013. If anybody has a suggestion, improvement or request, please let either myself or Mark Shuttleworth know ASAP, giving your alternative, the reason why you think it should be included, and the race you think should be removed to accommodate it. We appreciate this is short notice but time is running out with the first race (currently) scheduled for the last weekend in January. The provisional list is as follows:
