Sunday 21st April – Bolton 10k
April 21, 2013Great turnout today, good to see so many Lostock vests…….
A large turn out from Lostock for this 3rd road race in the championship. Good conditions dry with a bit of a chill just to get us all fired up. First time for me doing this race , and my first of the championship.. With Lippy going for first place (he’s in A different league). Me in good form I would have to settle for second Lostock runner home. This meant I would really have to race Shutters, Andy Laycock, Kris Booth and Paul Speedy. We all lined up together in a respectable position in the crowd or runners. Speedy had other ideas he found a spot next to John further along in the line up. He would pay for this. (more…)

A superb turnout for this event, and it was good to see John and Danny Hope competing, we also had a great support from our members,10 of them braved the chilly evening to marshall, another 6 showed their support by running around the route to cheer the athletes on and a couple more watched the action at the start/finish area.
It has been a time consuming job to compile these results due to my stop watch malfunction, but after a few frantic calls to Chris at the change over point I thing we cracked it, apologies if anyone disagrees with the times.

Wardle Skyline – April 13th 2013
April 16, 2013Where did the sun go. This race has become an annual battle between me (Checkers) + Mark Shutters. Both of us think it is a cracking little race, Not too much climbing and plenty of good ground to run on, and it is usually dry. This year the conditions were almost perfect, just the odd bank of snow still hanging on. very little fresh growth so the moorland grass was short. (more…)

Bolton 10k, online entry.
April 4, 2013The Bolton 10k is the 3rd race on this years road championship. There is NO entry on the day.
The closing date for this years online entry is Wednesday the 17th April.

Saturday 9th March – Wuthering Hike
March 14, 2013A very grim day Cooold rain cooold easterly wind and wet snow on the tops not the ideal day for alooong 32 mile slog amongst some of West Ridings best hills and valleys. Ten of us made the journey across to Howarth. Me and Mark were the only pair so we had to stick together. I was very slow starting off. I was in no rush I hoping to do the route in about 7 hrs, but realisticly I knew it would be more like 8 hours Mark should have done in 7 but had to wait for me especially as I had to go for an emergency pit!! stop??? not long after climbing the first hill. We had quite a good pace re catching Mark Sammon up going to the check point at mile 15 Where we found Pete Noble looking rather worse for wear. Sorry Pete but you did look knackered. (more…)

March 10, 2013This years presentation for the 2012 season was held in the Conservative Club after our run last Wednesday, almost all members were present to see Team GB Olympic Steeplechaser Stuart Stokes present the awards for the 2012 season. A new trophy for composite ability was kindly donated by Leo Pollard and was awarded for the first time. The winners and runners up are as follows.
