Sat 28th May – Hutton Roof Fell Race

May 30, 2011

At the last minute the wife decided we would go to this race as we went last year and it poured down…oh and i got beat by Craig. The race is part of the Hutton Roof village fair with face painting, Alpacas on show, Hen racing, various stalls and plenty of cakes making it a good afternoon out for the kids. The race itself is a classic, a smallish ascent near the start then fast only mildly undluating trail running to the half way point where there is a steep climb (everyone apart from top notch runners walk this bit) then another undulating, twisting trail run back to the finish, approx. 7 miles. I would recommend this fell race for anyone, even a roadie would like it as it is all runnable apart from the 2 short climbs which us average fell runners walk, coupled with the village fair it is a good day out.
