Hendersons End Fell Race Thursday 2nd June 2016, start at 7:30pm just up from Rivington Hall Barn grid ref. SD634145. Cost £4 – pay on the day – and all proceeds distributed to Bolton Mountain Rescue and local scouts.
This race has been measured at 6.8 miles and 1250 ft ascent and takes in the climb to the Pigeon Tower, Pike, 2 Lads, Mast, Trig Point and returns via almost the same route back to the Barn. This is a cat BM race and is tough with most of the climb occurring in the 1st half of the race up to the Trig point, from there it is fast running, mainly downhill. As ever runners should bring the ‘Best Practice Kit’ as defined by the FRA, however, these requirements may be relaxed dependant on the weather conditions on the night of the race. The actual kit requirements will be clearly displayed at registration.
Note – Bolton Mountain Rescue will be providing safety cover for the race.
Note – No under 18s as race is greater than 10k in distance.
Note – This course is not to be under-estimated, taking in climbs to the Pike, 2 Lads, Winter Hill Mast then the Trig Point. A novice with little fell running experience will find it very tough especially in adverse weather.
Note – As always bring the FRA ‘Best Practice Kit’, the Race Organiser will make a local decision on kit requirements on the day of the race, this requirement will be on display at registration.
inov8 are very kindly donating the main mens/womens prizes which will be presented this year by Horwich RMI Harrier Lindsey Brindle – the current female course record holder.
